I already had a very similar elevated set but was limited on what I could do with her feeding by the size and shape of the "bowl".... had been using added in "slow feeder" inserts to help her avoid all the problems that come with "hoovering" your dinner right down....but she's getting bigger and having a bit more trouble getting her nose into those specific little crevices- at least in THAT size bowl- (moveable arms) SO saw this and decided to give it a try- love the ease of opening and setting the legs in place to not move around and feels very sturdy- I put on a mat anyway but the feet have rubber to keep it from sliding around.
Got SUPER lucky and the slow feeing bowl that came with this is working out perfect for her now!! It can truly vary- the one that came as option with last one was WAY too high and hard- you have to match the size/difficulty etc. to your pooch! For reference, fyi- mine just turned 6mos old and is right about 40lbs... I've got the feeder set on the second hole from lowest elevated setting (say that as I think you can use with legs folded in too and have it much lower to the ground for little dogs or kitties!
Love that as she grows (God willing not TOO much more!! lol) I have plenty of room to adjust the height even higher!
Also- the waterer is also a better version of my orignal set by different manufacturer- both work amazongly well to keep the mess to MINIMAL!! Yes- it's possible- get this thing you will see!!! This one however has a much higher quality "float" insert that is wider and has yet to come apart or feel like there is water inside it- I took old one apart when cleaning it every other day paranoid that mold could form in there if moist- but this feels very solid and the footprint is quite cute compared to ovals and lines like the other one. Took her a minute to figure out it was the same thing and she still runs to the water side when she gets the "OK" to eat her dinner after watiing on the floor staring for me to say YES!! (becuase the old one had food on right and water on left- it's funny that they can get that used to something that quickly!
This is all plastic (no stainless inserts) and very easy to clean. Time will tell how the slow feeder bowl will hold up with the inevitable scratches from her teeth trying to get all her food up... but so far so good- cleans up no problem! Would be awesome to find out the manufacturer has additional bowls for sale to fit this feeder!! Would love to have one clean and one in DW... has done fine on top rack btw...
Great feeder and water bowl- if you've not tried this type water bowl- you will truly be amazed... I have MINIMAL drops of water on the floor or the cabinet in front of the bowl... before these, there was water EVERYwhere anytime she went to get ANY!! I knew there had to be a better way!!! This is IT!! ;-) Love it...
